Over 250 students graduate from TCAT

“This is not an ending, but a beginning,”

Remarks delivered by Amanda Allen, 2016 Student of the Year from Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Elizabethton, ushered a new beginning Thursday night for the 2017 graduating class from the school located in Stoney Creek.

TCAT graduated a total of 264 during the ceremony hosted at Milligan College’s Seeger Chapel.

Individuals received their certification in different programs. 109 students majored in Practical Nursing, 34 in Welding, 25 in Administrative Office Technology, 15 in Millwright/Industrial Maintenance, 15 in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, 12 in Pipefitting and Plumbing, 11 in Automotive Technology, nine in HVAC/Refrigeration, eight in Electricity/Electronics and five in Computer Information Technology.

TCAT also announced 23 students who live in 17 cities and towns across six states will receive certificates of competition in the online Dietary Manager Training Program. The program takes eight months to complete and prepares students for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager.

With the journey at a close for students, Allen stated that the sky is the limit for the class.

“You will go out and you determine the amount of success you will have,” she said. “Walk with your head held high out of this chapel and every day for the rest of your life. What you have done is amazing and is beautiful. Take the steps toward your future, build the future you want. Be proud of who you are, your trade and where you are going. There is no stopping us now so let us go succeed further into our future.”

Of the 241 graduates of full-time training programs that take 12 to 20 months to complete, 77 are from Carter County, 63 are from Washington County, 43 from Sullivan County, 15 from Johnson County, two from Hamblen County, five each from Hawkins and Greene Counties and seven each from North Carolina and Virginia.
