Stats Check: Russell provides ‘Dogs 139 yards of offense against Trinity

The Hampton Bulldogs opened up their 2017 campaign with a 42-0 win at Trinity Friday night.
The game saw a well spread out attack from the Hampton offense as the ‘Dogs accumulated 317 yards of total offense.
Leading the way Friday night, Hampton senior Jason Russell accounted for 139 yards on his own as he passed for 64 yards on 2-of-2 throws while rushing for 75 yards on 16 carries. Russell finished the night with both a passing and rushing touchdown. He also punched in a 2-point conversion for the Bulldogs.
Hampton junior Alex Hardin also had a productive night as he recorded 116 yards of offense. Hardin tossed for 86 yards while going 3-of-4. Hardin also racked up 30 yards on the ground with two carries. Hardin finished the night with two passing touchdowns.
Senior running back Hunter Davenport had 60 yards on nine carries with a rushing touchdown and a 2-point conversion.
Hampton’s Gage Chambers had 44 yards receiving on two catches while he pulled in two touchdown passes one of which was a 29-yarder from Russel that Chambers laid out for.
Bulldogs’ Skyler Cole had one catch for 36 yards and one receiving touchdown.
Hampton’s Chase Taylor finished the night with the final touchdown of the game.
The Bulldogs (1-0) will host Johnson County Friday night.
