22nd Annual Sycamore Shoals Quilt Show — From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the visitors’ center at Sycamore Shoals State Historic park. This four-day exhibition, sponsored by the Sycamore Shoals Stitchers, features a show and demonstrations by local quilters. Bed quilts, wall hangings, holiday and baby quilts, miniatures and antique quilts will be on display.

The descendants, relatives and friends of William Berry Norris and wife, Martisha Ann Trivett Norris, early settlers of Old Beech Mountain, will gather at the old Cranberry High School for their 12th annual reunion. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. A covered dish meal will be shared around noon. Elizabethton Elks Lodge 65th Birthday Celebration — Join members of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge (Number 1847) for a day of fun as they celebrate 65 years in Elizabethton. The event will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lodge, located at 1000 N. Sycamore St., Elizabethton. We will be listening to music from the 50’s, drink specials, and food will be served. Girls get your poodle skirts on, and boys get those blue jeans and T-shirts and grease your hair back and come dance the day away, and see some old friends, and make new ones! We look forward to hearing how things were when the lodge started in 1952, and continuing until today! Musical experience is welcome but not necessary; just come with a willingness to learn. Meet at the Sycamore Shoals Visitors Center. Lessons are free of charge, just call and let us know you’re coming!

Bird Walks with the Lee & Lois Herndon TOS Chapter — 8 a.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. Meet other birders and naturalists at Sycamore Shoals for a morning of birding during the migratory season.

Scary Stories at Fort Watauga — 7:30 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. Strange things happen around All Hallows Eve, especially at an old fort by the river. Bring the family and join us for tales of woe and terror, the weird and macabre, with a touch of wit thrown in for good measure. Don’t be afraid, Fort Watauga at Sycamore Shoals isn’t haunted… we think!
