Thelma Jean Malone

Mrs. Thelma Jean Malone, 78, of Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Four Oaks Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Malone was born in Washington County and was a daughter of the late James and Myrtle Jones Shaw. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Harvey “Tom” Malone; one brother, Lawrence Shaw; and a nephew, Charles Lawrence Shaw Jr.
Mrs. Malone was a member of New Victory Baptist Church, where she loved keeping children in the nursery. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a special love for her great-granddaughter. Our mother loved the Lord and her family. She always spoke of her daughters and would always say she had the best sons-in-law anyone could ever ask for.
Mrs. Malone was a member of the Jonesborough Rescue Squad Crewettes. She coached one of the first girl softball teams in Jonesborough.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Randy Cooper, Jonesborough, and Karen and David Cicirello, Florence, S.C.; a grandson, Jerry Lee Cooper and wife, Jennifer, Jonesborough; a great-granddaughter, Callie Cooper; a sister-in-law, Lillian Shaw, Jonesborough; and a niece, Brenda McCurry (Timmy), Telford.
The family would like to thank Four Oaks Healthcare for the loving care provided for our mom and all the great stories and kind words you have shared with us. They became more than mom’s caregivers, they are our friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Saturday, October 7, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Slagle officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, and other times at the home of her daughter, Tammy. Interment services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 8, at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
