Annual Rotary Club golf tournament continues trend

A tradition over a decade old continued to make its presence felt Friday at the Elizabethton Golf Course.

Roughly 50 golfers descended upon the course Friday, Oct. 20, for the 14th annual Charlie Robinson Memorial Golf Tournament, presented by Elizabethton Rotary Club and sponsored by Tetrick Funeral Home.

Joe Alexander, Rotary Club president, said 13 teams took to the fairways to help raise money for various Rotary International programs and variety of organizations in the community, including Carter County Relay For Life, the Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County, the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library and the United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County.

Funds will also be placed into a camp scholarship fund for 4-H Club, boy scouts and girl scouts. Rotary also provides college scholarships for Carter County students at East Tennessee State University, Northeast State Community College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Elizabethton.

Alexander gave thanks to all the different hole and card sponsors, golfers and other individuals that made Friday’s event a reality. The president also thanked Charlie Long, who provided food to golfers throughout the day.
