City to host Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday

The City of Elizabethton will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans War Memorial located in historic downtown Elizabethton.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and this year’s featured speaker with be Jim Cross, Northeast Tennessee Area Chair of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization. ESGR, a Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
Loretta Bowers will sing the National Anthem during the ceremony and members of the American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard will perform a 21 gun volley.
The event will also feature a presentation of The Empty Table Ceremony.
