Gun shop, firing range damaged in fire

A Hampton business was damaged Friday afternoon in a fire.
Firefighters from Hampton and other local volunteer fire departments responded to Barnett’s Gun Shop and Indoor Range, located at 118 First Ave. in Hampton, on a report of a structure fire at the business.
First Avenue was shut down to allow emergency personnel to battle the blaze.
Early reports indicated the fire was in the shooting range area of the business. No further information was immediately available at press time regarding how the fire started or the extent of damage the facility suffered.
