The Johnson City United Auto Workers Retirees will meet at the Pipefitters Training Center, 386 Highway 91 (Stoney Creek Road), across from the Elizabethton Airport, at 10 a.m. All UAW retirees are invited to attend, bring their spouses or friends and join the group for this meeting. Watauga Valley Fife and Drums from 10 a.m. until noon. The Fife & Drum Corps performs at historical events, dedications, and parades. This group is open to anyone ages 13 & up. Musical experience is welcome but not necessary; just come with a willingness to learn. Meet at the Sycamore Shoals Visitors Center. Lessons are free of charge, just call and let us know you’re coming!

An Early 19th Century Formal Sweetheart Tea —at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park on Sunday, February 18, from 2-4 p.m. Cost: Adults: $12.00 per person or $20.00 per couple 6 to 12 years: $8.00 per person. February is a month for sweethearts, so the Sabine Hill Social Society has planned a fun afternoon of refreshments and entertainment.  Our historically inspired event will have an early 19th century flavor in keeping with the history of recently opened Sabine Hill. Our featured entertainment will be professional harpist, Frieda Winter. Menu includes coffee, tea, finger foods, appetizers, and pastries served by interpreters in period attire. Audition for Liberty: The Saga of Sycamore Shoals! — Sunday, February 25, at 2:00 pm at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. Passionate about our heritage?  Interested in performing in Tennessee’s official outdoor drama? Audition for this fun and unique interpretation of the American Revolution as told by the Overmountain Men: colonists who defied British law and settled on Cherokee lands. This performance takes place here at Sycamore Shoals, the last three weekends of July.
