The Cloudland Lady Highlanders picked up a big conference win Tuesday evening as they topped University High, 7-4, in extra innings.

With the game tied at 4-4 in the eighth, Lady Highlanders Rein Strickland blasted a 3-run homer to lead Cloudland to their first conference win of the season.

“That was big for us to have a senior step and make that hit,” said Cloudland head coach Matt Birchfield. “It was good for our program to pick up a win in conference play.”

The Highlanders took a 2-1 run after fourth with Cloudland’s Krisi Bare scoring in the inning.

Cloudland climbed ahead 4-2 in the sixth Bare and Kenzie Birchfield both coming home.

The Lady Highlanders are now 1-1 in league play.
