Cyclones complete sweep of Johnson County

A day after topping Johnson County, 15-1, the Cyclones swept the Longhorns out of Joe O’Brien Field Wednesday.
The Cyclones posted runs in the third and fourth innings to defeat JC, 6-1, for a Three Rivers Conference victory.
After the Longhorns went up 1-0 in the third, Elizabethton nabbed four runs in the bottom of the inning. Cyclones Evan Perkins hit a hard grounder to center for a two-RBI single before teammate Logan Estep smacked a line drive to center for an RBI single. Elizabethton’s Ethan Eggleston, who had reached on a bunt, came home off a walk. Heading into the fourth, Elizabethton held a 4-1 edge.
Elizabethton posted two more runs in the bottom of the fourth frame as Cyclones Ryan Wetzel brought in teammates Nico Ashley and Nick Johnson with a line drive single.
On the mound, Elizabethton’s Evan Carter picked up the win after tossing five innings. Carter finished the contest with three hits and one run against as he retired four batters against two walks.
Cyclones Lawson Wagner came in as relief in the sixth and had no hits or runs against him. Wagner finished with one strikeout.
The Cyclones had eight hits on the day as Eggleston and Estep recorded two hits apiece.
