Lady Cyclones defeat Johnson County, Happy Valley falls to Sullivan East

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones got rolling early Tuesday as they stormed past the Lady Longhorns in Mountain City, 9-3.
Elizabethton scored three runs in the first as EHS’s Taylor Greene crossed home plate on an error while teammate Maci West scored on an error by Johnson County’s catcher.
Elizabethton kept the scoreboard lit up in the second as Lady Cyclones Lauren Brickey hit a two-run double and West had RBI single in the inning. Heading into the third EHS led JC, 6-0.
West had a two-run single in the sixth before Brickey scored on a fielder’s choice by teammate Hannah Edwards.
The Lady Longhorns found some momentum in the seventh as they scored three runs.
Both teams had nine hits each. For EHS, West led the way with three hits and three RBIs. Elizabethton’s Maggie Johnson had two hits on the night. Brickey and Edwards each had two RBIs apiece.
In the circle, Brickey (4 IP, 4 Ks, 3H) picked up the win. Lady Cyclones Kellie Cunningham (3 IP, 4 Ks, 6 H, 3 R) worked as the relief.
Sullivan East 12, Happy Valley 3
The Sullivan East Lady Patriot had their bats blazing as they totaled 16 hits against the Lady Warriors at Cannon-Gouge Park Tuesday.
East posted seven runs over the first three innings while Happy Valley found the board in the first with Lady Warriors Kaitlyn Roberts coming home on a wild pitch.
The Lady Patriots found five more runs in the sixth and seventh.
Happy Valley’s Calli Davis had an RBI double in the fifth to score Roberts. Roberts was scored once more in the seventh as Claire Johnson hit a line drive single to center field.
