From a Warrior to a Buffalo.

Friday, Happy Valley senior Austin, front of friends and family, signed his name with Milligan College where he will compete in track and field.

As a Warrior, Roark co-holds the Happy Valley 4×200 relay record with a time of 1:33 which he set with teammate Hunter Davenport, Kai Norman, and Brayden Sams. Roark is also close to setting a new Happy Valley long jump record. His current PR in the event is 20 feet 9 inches which ranks him fifth in the state. Roark also competes in the 4×100 meter relay and the high jump.

While at Happy Valley, Roark has competed under head track and field coach Matt Estep.

“Coach Estep has been by far one of my favorite coaches,” said Roark. “He has helped me so much here. He has guided me through my years here.”

Estep said that what makes Roark such a good athlete is his dedication and willingness to learn.

“He has meant a lot,” said Estep. “If he is asked to do something he does it. He doesn’t complain. He is at practice every day. He is a hard worker. He is good in the classroom. He has a really good ACT score. He has a good GPA, and he is a great fit for Milligan.”

Roark and the Warriors will compete in the Three Rivers Conference track meet today.
