For those that sacrifice their time for the public, the City of Elizabethton recently voted to dedicate a week to thank those that help city and Carter County residents.
During Thursday’s City Council meeting, Elizabethton Mayor Curt Alexander issued a proclamation for the city to participate in the 44th annual National EMS Week — scheduled for May 20-26. According to the National EMS Week website, the event started in 1974 when President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in the nation’s communities. City officials thanked officials in attendance during Thursday’s meeting for their tireless work to the community. Alexander presented staff with a proclamation as a token of thanks for their service.
