The Elizabethton Senior Center will be having a “Cancer: Thriving and Surviving Workshop” from 9 to 11 a.m. This is an evidence-based program with certified leaders. No cost. Open to anyone. Spouses, family members, and caregivers are welcome. Each participant receives a workbook with relaxation CD. Please call the Center at 543-4362 to register. Limited seating.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Saturday, June 9

Decoration Day at the Lyons Cemetery, located at 1259 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, will be held at 2 p.m. Mr. Bruce Hall will be speaking and special music will be provided. This is a great opportunity to fellowship one with another and catch up with old friends. Please join us as we honor and show respect to our loved ones.

Boones Creek High School Class of 1970 Reunion is set for June 9 at the old school, which is now Boones Creek Middle School, from 4-6 p.m. for the Class of ‘70 dinner. From 6-8 p.m. any class may come tour the school and socialize. The event will be catered by the David Crockett High School Home Economics class and the meal will include BBQ, baked beans, slaw, desserts, tea, and coffee. Price for meal is $12 per person. Those attending are asked to bring a 2-liter drink of their choice. Anyone attending dinner needs to RSVP immediately to Sue Crawford at asuecrawford@comcast.net. Please let her know if you will be bringing a guest.

The Annual Virgil and Minnie Harmon Family Reunion will be held at noon at the home of Saundra Grindstaff, 455 Main Street, Butler. Please bring a covered dish and join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. The Highlander Band’s 5th Annual Bike Ride will be held at Roan Mountain Business Complex, 7996 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain. Biker entry is $20 per bike; $5 per passenger. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with wheels out at 12 p.m. Return to Smokey Mountain Bakery at 4 p.m. for a benefit concert. Headlining the concert is the Roan Crows. All participants will receive a $2 coupon for Smokey Mountain Bakery. Rain date for the ride is June 23.

Highlander Summer Jam, a benefit concert for the Cloudland High Band, will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. at Smoky Mountain Bakers featuring live music by The Roan Crows. “Steppin” Out Cloudland Community Coffee House, Cloudland Chamber Group. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The Widow/Widower’s Dutch Treat Luncheon, sponsored by

Tetrick Funeral Home, Silver Angels Home Care Specialists and Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Primo’s Italian Restaurant, 151 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton.
