A pair of local title holders are in Jackson this week competing for the job of a lifetime to serve as Miss Tennessee.
Miss Carter County Peyton Wilson and Miss Watauga Valley Kelsi Walters traveled to Jackson on over the weekend to begin a week-long event that will culminate on Saturday night with the crowning of a new Miss Tennessee.
Wilson, 21, is from Elizabethton and currently attends East Tennessee State University. Walters, 20, is from Petros and currently attends Tennessee Tech University.
On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the pair appeared at a variety of events held for the 37 contestants. On Tuesday, the work began as Wilson and Walters went through their private interviews. The on stage portions of the competition begins Wednesday evening.
Contestants are divided into different groups for the scholarship pageant and rotate through the different events based on their group. Both Wilson and Walters were assigned to the same group, so they will compete in the same events on the same evenings.
Wednesday night, Wilson and Walters will compete in the talent portion of the scholarship pageant. Wilson will sing “I Dreamed A Dream” from the musical Les Miserables. Walters will sing “Who’s Loving You” by The Jackson 5.
The pair will move on to the Lifestyle & Fitness event on Thursday evening followed by the Evening Gown and On Stage Question event on Friday.
The scholarship pageant finals will be held on Saturday evening.
The entire event — all four evenings — will be streamed online live at www.eplustv6.com. Visit the website for a schedule of times and broadcasts.
