With the Fourth of July just days away, here is a list of some events going on in Elizabethton and Carter County to enjoy the day.
Annual 4th of July Boat Parade
A variety of boats will make their way across Watauga Lake Wednesday during the 18th annual 4th of July Watauga Lake Boat Parade.
The event is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. but boat judging will take place before the event starts. The parade will start at Watauga Dam, travel through Shook Branch by the Captain’s Table to Watauga Point and end at Butler Bridge. The event is scheduled to last until 3 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to July 5.

City of Elizabethton Independence Day Celebration
Continuing a tradition of showcasing patriotic pride, the City of Elizabethton and Elizabethton Parks and Recreation are gearing up for the annual Independence Day Celebration.
The event will take place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The current lineup for events at Covered Bridge Park include:
• Miss Firecracker Pageant registration – 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
• DDPAA performance – 10:40 to 10:45 a.m.
• Miss Firecracker Pageant – 11 a.m.
• Patriotic bike and pup parade registration – 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Patriotic opening ceremony – noon
• Retroville – 12:20 p.m.
• Bike Parade – 2 p.m.
• Pup Parade – 2:15 p.m.
• Parade award winners – 2:30 p.m.
• Jerry Pierce Band – 2 p.m.
Other activities will also be happening at the park, including inflatables. Refreshments and concessions will also be offered.

Elizabethton Twins & Fireworks
After a busy day across the city and county, the public is invited for some Minor League Baseball at Joe O’Brien Field as the Elizabethton Twins will host the Kingsport Mets at 7 p.m. The gates will open at 6 p.m.
At the end of the night, a special fireworks display will be provided thanks to sponsorship from Snap-On Tools.
