Carter County, Elizabethton to receive $840,000 in grant funding for projects

State Senators Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) and Jon Lundberg (R-Bristol) along with State Representatives John Holsclaw (R-Elizabethton) and Timothy Hill (R-Blountville) announced today that Carter County and Elizabethton will receive a total of $840,000 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) administered by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD).
“This kind of investment in infrastructure is very important to the well-being of our citizens and the overall economic development of our county,” said Senator Crowe. “I appreciate the work of local officials in Carter County and Elizabethton to secure these grants.”
“I am pleased that Carter County will receive these grants to enhance our community and create more opportunities for economic development,” said Senator Lundberg. “Congratulations to local officials for their work in bringing these grants to our community.”
Carter County will receive $315,000 for the Emergency Operations Center to help with the expansion of the existing 911 Communications Center to house the county’s emergency operations center (EOC). Additionally, Elizabethton will receive $525,000 for water system rehabilitation to replace an aging water line to address water loss in the distribution system.
“This investment made by TNECD is tremendous news for our citizens,” said Representative Hill. “These funds will enhance vital services provided to our community during emergency situations. I am pleased to have supported our local officials in their efforts to secure these grant dollars, and I look forward to our continued partnership in the years ahead.”
