After one of the most successful seasons in Elizabethton High School baseball history, the Cyclones were able to receive center stage once again in a public forum.

Coaches and players were recognized during Thursday’s City Council meeting and were with a proclamation for their accomplishments during the 2018 season.

Elizabethton reached the state tournament this year, marking just the third time in the school’s history. The Cyclones were able to win two games in the state tournament — a first since 1958 — and finished third in the state in Class AA. Overall, Elizabethton finished with a 28-10 record.

Elizabethton also saw several of their players win individual accolades throughout the year, including all-state nominations. During the postseason, the Cyclones won the TSSAA district, regional and sectional championships. Team members and coaches joined Mayor Curt Alexander in front of the podium at City Hall following the reading of the proclamation of a photo opportunity.
