When the 2018 football season rolls around, the Happy Valley Warriors will have a new addition to their facilities to be proud of.
Members of Happy Valley High School Gridiron Club are currently fundraising for and constructing the “War Path,” a stone passageway that leads from the locker rooms to the football field at Happy Valley School.
The initial work on the path was started by Tim Orloff of Honey Do Landscaping free of charge and members of the Gridiron have volunteered their time to the construction of the path. The Gridiron Club said they would like to thank Jimmy Pierce, Mike Pierce, and Doug Tittle, who has done a lot of the physical work on the past.
To raise funds for the path and the Club, the Gridiron Club is selling 8×8 stones that will be laser engraved with an inscription of the buyer’s choice and a Warriors’ head. The purchased stones will be included into the path’s design.
“This is something that people can buy and be a part of,” said Happy Valley head coach Jason Jarrett. “It is something that this year’s team can be proud and teams in the future can be proud of.”
Stones will be sold during the upcoming Meet the Warriors Night on Aug. 4 and anyone who is interested in purchasing a stone can also reach the Club on their Happy Valley High School Gridiron Club facebook page or by email at roanvalley@hotmail.com.
Coach Jarrett commended the Gridiron Club for their work for the football team and the school.
“The people that are helping do that are just great,” said Jarrett. “It is a great fundraiser for our Gridiron Club. It is all hands on work by them. A lot of people in our community and program, go above and beyond and put a lot of volunteer hours in. They just want to ensure that our athletes have first-class facilities for the upcoming year and many years to come. We are very blessed for the countless hours that those people put in.”
