During Thursday’s City of Elizabethton Regional Planning Commission, members gave approval to a pair of projects.
The Commission gave approval for the expansion of A.Y. McDonald to take place. The application for the site plan has been made by Appalachia Design Services, Inc., and includes a 9.96-acre worth of work, which includes an additional 32 parking spots. The expansion is a multi-million dollar project by the company and is expected to create 36 jobs in Carter County.
Recently, the Industrial Development Board also approved a local incentive of $379,160 to A.Y. McDonald. A.Y. McDonald is expected to invest $4.5 million in real property and $3.5 million in personal property. The IDB is expecting county-wide impacts to include a total of 49 jobs to be created (including the 36 from A.Y. McDonald), an increase in payroll of $2.5 million and an economic impact (increase in GDP) of $11.6 million.
Planners also gave approval for a project to take place at the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter. The projects include expanding the current facility to add 24 dog runs, roughly 10’x20’, to be built in stages and to add a roof over an existing concrete slab.
