Ward announces retirement as Carter County Director of Schools

Carter County Director of Schools Kevin Ward announced Monday that he will be retiring.

Ward, a graduate of Hampton High School, has been Director of Schools since 2012 and his retirement will be effective June 30, 2019.

“I’m very appreciative of the opportunity given to me six years ago in 2012,” said Ward to the Elizabethton Star. “The past and present boards have been great to work with and much has been accomplished.

“I want to thank the supervisors, Principals, and teachers for all they do for the students of Carter County,” added Ward. “They are true professionals. Our para-professionals are some of the hardest working people. I’m very grateful for the many services they provide for our schools and students.”

With stints as a principal, teacher, facilities director, assistant director of schools, Ward has been with the Carter County schools system for roughly 30 years.
