The Elizabethton junior varsity squad made easy work of the visiting David Crockett Pioneers Monday at Citizens Bank Stadium.
A mixed offensive and defensive attack allowed the Cyclones to collect a 67-7 victory.
Elizabethton struck twice in the first quarter with Cyclones Bryson Rollins getting things started with a 5-yard touchdown carry before teammate Jaxton Holly connected on the point-after attempt. Cyclones LaDarian Avery followed up with a 2-yard plunge up the middle, and with Holly good again, Elizabethton led 14-0 after one.
In the second quarter, Rollins scored back-to-back TDs from 1-yard and 5-yards out, and Holly was true on both PATs to give EHS a 35-0 lead. Cyclones Duece Morton continued the onslaught as he busted to the left side for a 26-yard touchdown run. Holly hit his fifth PAT of the evening to make it a 41-0 game with 2:24 left in the half.
The Pioneers picked up a touchdown before the half to make it 47-7 heading into intermission.
In the opening of the second half, the Cyclones Jake Roberts had a pick-six from 28 yards out to move Elizabethton on out 47-7. Still in the third, Elizabethton’s Conner Johnson recovered a David Crockett fumble in the end zone, and with another Holly PAT, the Cyclones stood firm at 54-7 heading into the fourth.
The final quarter saw two touchdowns from Elizabethton with Braden Holley scoring on a 5-yard touchdown run and Cyclones Isaiah King taking an interception 21-yards to the house.
