One dead in shooting at Hampton McDonald’s

A shooting at the McDonald’s in Hampton killed a white male on Friday afternoon.
At 4:25 p.m. Friday, officers with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at the McDonald’s parking lot. Upon the arrival of the officers, the suspect, a white male, was laying on the ground in a prone position, according to Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford.
“He had already given himself up and admitted to shooting the victim,” said Lunceford. “He has been taken into custody and transported to the Carter County jail.”
The victim was a white male and had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, said Lunceford. The names of the victim or the suspect have not been released.
The shooting is still under investigation and further information will be available online and in a future edition of the Elizabethton Star.
