Brittney Eggers’ legacy was on full display over the weekend in Knoxville.

The former Elizabethton High School Betsy Band member passed away in 2015 from ovarian cancer, but was able to make history with the East Tennessee Marching Band members.

Eggers was part of the halftime performance and accompanied Hayley Jarnagin in the form of a photo.

Jarnagin was a longtime friend of Eggers and said she appreciated the opportunity of getting the chance to honor her friend inside Neyland.

“Brittney was at ETSU during the 12 years that the Marching Buccaneers were away, and because of this she never got the chance to march with the ’Bucs,” said Jarnagin, EHS graduate and current sophomore at ETSU. “In order to honor Brittney and give her the opportunity to march in Neyland Stadium with the Marching ’Bucs, I put a picture of her in my pocket.”

It was a historic day for the band, Jarnagin said, adding that she wanted to thank Sharon and Kim Eggers for coming to Neyland and allowing them to honor Brittney in that way.
