Happy Valley senior Maci Puckett has been playing softball since she was 4 years old.
And after this week’s signing, it seems that Puckett will be playing for many more years to come.
Thursday in front of friends and family at Happy Valley High School, Puckett inked her name on a letter of intent to Milligan College where the first baseman will play for the Buffaloes softball team.
“This is great,” said Puckett. “I have played since I was four and wanted to play after high school. I just didn’t know where. It is great to have a chance to play at a school like Milligan.
“I went on a visit there and met with coach (Wes) Holly,” said Puckett. “I just fell in love with the place and the values they have.”
Puckett, who boasts 4.0 GPA, also swings a heavy bat as she has played a key part in the Lady Warriors’ offensive output.
“Maci is a great person, and she will fit in at Milligan,” said Hyder. “She is also a great athlete and means a lot to our program. She hits in the middle of the lineup while starting at first base for us.”
Like Puckett, Hyder also signed with Milligan where he played baseball for the Buffaloes.
“This is just like when I was in high school and signed,” said Hyder. “It was very similar to this and it brings back memories.”
Also on hand during Thursday’s signing was Milligan head coach Wes Holly.
“We are looking forward to bringing Maci down to Milligan,” said Holly. “We have watched her play high school ball, and we think she will be able to contribute to the team.”
While at Milligan, Puckett said she hopes to study exercise science.
