Jr. Bulldogs roll past Little Milligan

Using a fierce defensive game, the Hampton Jr. Bulldogs took a 48-21 bite out of Little Milligan during Tuesday’s Area 1 Class A Tournament.
With the win, the Bulldogs took on Hunter in the championship game on Tuesday at Hampton Elementary.
During Monday’s win, Hampton’s Caden Buckles scored a game-high 14 points while Hayden Campbell picked up eight points.
The first quarter saw both teams struggle to get shots to fall. Hampton, however, would fight out to a 6-4 lead before heading into the second frame. The first quarter saw Buckles score a basket while Austin Bentley and John Greenwell had three and two points, respectively.
Hampton, while keeping Little Milligan off balance with full-court pressure, picked up its offensive output in the second quarter. The ‘Dogs started feeding their big guys inside as Campbell and Ty McEylea picked up six and four points, respectively. Buckles led the way in the second as he scored eight points. Hampton held Little Milligan to just three points in the second while picking up 18 points.
Heading into the half, Hampton led 24-7.
The Bulldogs didn’t let up in the second half.
Three-pointers from Hampton’s Dylan Trivett and Levi Lyons led to a 14-point quarter for the Bulldogs in the third frame.
For Little Milligan, Caleb Pierce picked up six points in the third.
Hampton worked the nets for ten points in the fourth quarter as Bulldogs Brody Hicks knocked down four points. Hampton’s Mason Wilson, Buckles, and Cambell each had two points in the fourth. The Buffaloes picked up seven points as Pearson drained a 3-pointer in the frame.
Pierce finished the game with ten to lead Little Milligan while Pearson finished with six. LM’s Jesse Guy and Austin West each had two points.
For Bulldogs, Bentley (7), Hicks (4), McElyea (4), Trivett (3), Greenwell (3), Lyons (3), and Mason Wilson (2) all got in the action.
Little Milligan took on University School Tuesday in a consolation game.
