This week, local teams will be entering the postseason as they compete in their respective district tournaments.

District 1-AA

The District 1-AA Tournaments will be held at Happy Valley High School and tipped off Wednesday night.

Boys

Johnson County will be coming into the tournament ranked No. 1 while the Elizabethton Cyclones enter ranked No. 2.

Things got started Wednesday night as No. 6 Happy Valley and No. 7 Unicoi faced off in a playoff contest. The winner of Wednesday’s will take on No. 3 Sullivan East at 6 p.m Friday. No. 4 Sullivan South and No. 5 Sullivan Central will play at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, the winner of South and Central will play Johnson County at 8 p.m. while the winner of Sullivan East and Happy Valley/Unicoi will face Elizabethton at 5 p.m.

The championship contest will be played at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday while a third-place consolation game will take place at 6 p.m.

Girls

The Sullivan Central Lady Cougars come into the district tournament ranked No. 1 while Sullivan South comes in a No. 2.

Wednesday night, No. 6 Sullivan East took on No. 7 Johnson County in play-in action.

Today, the winner of Johnson County/Sullivan East will play No. 3 Unicoi at 6 p.m. Following that contest, No. 4 Happy Valley will play No. 5 Elizabethton at 7:30 p.m.

In Saturday’s semifinals, Sullivan South will play the winner of Unicoi and Sullivan East/Johnson County at 3:30 p.m. while Sullivan Central will play the winner of Happy Valley and Elizabethton at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday, the championship will be played at 7:30 p.m. A consolation game will take place at 6 p.m.

District 1-A

The 2019 District 1-A Tournament will be played at Sullivan North High School in Kingsport and will tip off this Friday.

Boys

University High comes in the tournament seeded No. 1 while Hampton sits at No. 2.

Friday’s quarterfinals will see No. 4 Cloudland play No. 5 Unaka at 5:30 p.m. before No. 3 North Greene plays No. 6 Sullivan North at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday in the semifinals, University High will play the winner of Cloudland and Unaka at 5:30 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the winner of North Greene and Sullivan North will play Hampton.

The championship will be played on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. while a consolation will be played at 6 p.m.

Girls

In girls’ play, North Greene is seeded at No. 1 while Cloudland is seeded No. 2.

In the quarterfinals on Friday, No. 4 Hampton will play No. 5 University High at 4 p.m. At 7 p.m., No. 3 Unaka will take on No. 6 Sullivan North at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday in the semifinals, North Greene will play the winner of Hampton and University High at 4 p.m. At 7 p.m., Cloudland will play the winner of Unaka and Sullivan North.

The championship will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. A consolation game will be played at 6 p.m.
