Lady Cyclones go 2-1 at Myrtle Beach

This week, the Elizabethton High School Lady Cyclones made the trip down to Myrtle Beach to compete in the Grand Strand Softball Classic.
Over two days of play, the Lady Cyclones went 2-1.
Elizabethton’s two wins came on Monday as they topped AB Ryan, 7-4, and East Lake (Ohio), 7-4.
In their win over AB Ryan, the Lady Cyclones used 13 hits and a fruitful fifth inning.
After four frames, the contest was knotted at 3-3 before the Lady Cyclones posted four runs in the fifth. Autumn Hensley, Hannah Edwards, and Madisun Pritchard all RBI-singles in the inning while Marley Wagner had a SAC fly to bring home Edwards. The Lady Cyclones led 7-3 heading into the sixth.
At the plate, EHS’s Maggie Johnson, Haley Fair, Edwards, Pritchard all two hits as Pritchard recorded a double. Wagner, Hensley, Kira Dillard, Maddie O’Quin and Kaylen Shell all had a hit each.
In the circle, Pritchard pitched seven innings (5 hits, 4 runs, 2 errors, 4 strikeouts, 4 walks).
Against East Lake, after taking a 3-2 lead in the first inning, the Lady Cyclones scored four runs over the last four innings en route to a victory.
Those three runs in the first innings came off a three-run homer from Autumn Hensley who blasted the ball out of center field.
In the fourth, Elizabethton took a 4-3 lead as Dillard hit a line-drive single to bring home O’Quinn.
Wagner followed up in the fifth with a shot to right field for an RBI single that gave EHS a 5-3 edge.
In the sixth, jumped out 7-3 as Hensley collected an RBI single before Johnson hit a fly ball to left field for an RBI double.
It was another 13-hit performance for the Lady Cyclones as Dillard had four hits. Hensley finished with two hits and four RBIs.
In the circle against East Lake, EHS’s Kalie Peters went seven (9 hits, 4 runs, 3 errors, 2 strikeouts, 1 walk).
On Wednesday, despite outhitting Grove City (Ohio), 10-8, the Lady Cyclones fell 7-1.
Both Johnson and O’Quinn had two hits each in the game.
The Lady Cyclones will be back in action on Apr. 1 at Happy Valley.
