Elizabethton soccer moves to 5-0; Unaka baseball sweeps series against Cloudland

It was a busy evening of sports for Carter County teams Tuesday.
Soccer
The Elizabethton Cyclones made their way over to Volunteer High School where they topped the Falcons 4-0.
The win moved the Cyclones to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.
The Cyclones scoring was spread out as Teagan Bernshausen, Holston Howard, Isaac Hurley, and Austin Outland all scored for EHS.
Elizabethton will be back in action on Thursday as they host Dobyns-Bennett in a nonconference. Elizabethton head coach Bill McClay said that the Cyclones are playing well early on, but also said that Thursday’s match will be a good chance to gauge Elizabethton’s abilities.
The Hampton Bulldogs hosted University High Tuesday in a conference match.
The Buccaneers, however, ran away with the match as they shut out the Bulldogs 9-0.
Baseball and Softball
The Unaka Rangers completed their sweep over the Cloudland Highlanders with a 5-0 win in Roan Mountain Tuesday evening.
Unaka senior pitcher John Ramsey struck out a whopping 18 batters during his reign on the mound.
At the plate, Unaka’s Bryson Street finished with three RBIs while Davy Ensor recorded two hits for Unaka.
While the Rangers were winning in Roan Mountain, the Happy Valley Warriors struggled in Unicoi.
A day after falling 3-0 in game one of the teams’ conference series, the Warriors took an 11-6 loss to Unicoi Tuesday.
Monday’s 3-0 loss saw Happy Valley pitcher Michael Harrah throw six innings during which he retired ten batters. Harrah finished with six hits and two runs against one walk Monday.
In softball action, the Lady Bulldogs hosted conference opponent North Greene Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped that contest.
