Even though Elizabethton experienced some success on their home tennis courts Tuesday, it wasn’t enough to hold off the Sullivan South Rebels who took the girls’ team match 7-2 and fought off the boys in a closer 5-4 match.

On the girls’ side, No. 1 Reagan Armstrong had to battle hard to come out on top but that she did as she defeated Meredith St. Clair 9-7.

Elizabethton also picked up a win from their No. 3 player Susanna Digby who outlasted Juliana Henderson 8-4.

In other girls’ singles play, South picked up wins from Allie Jordan, Brenna Henderson, Colleen Coughlin, and Kristen Sanders.

Elizabethton’s Lauren Snodgrass, playing as the No. 6, gave Sanders all she wanted and more in a close 8-6 match.

The Lady Rebels swept all three of the doubles matches.

On the boy’s side of the coin, the Cyclones started hot by sweeping the Rebels in all three matches.

Elijah Smith and Luke Carrier handled Josh Manis and Aaron Holmes 9-8 (7-3) in #1 doubles play.

Jacob Lipford and Patrick O’Quinn teamed up to take a No. 2 victory over Mason Hurt and Logan Moore 8-4 while Alex Taylor and Nate Wetzel disposed of Reid Wilson and Andrew Haga 9-7.

On the singles side, only O’Quinn held serve and defeated Wilson 8-3.

Lipford, Carrier, and Wetzel had nailbiting matches before falling to their South counterparts.
