Tuesday was a bittersweet day for the 2019 Elizabethton Cyclone baseball team as four seniors made their final home appearance in regular-season play and were recognized along with their parents.
The four seniors—Matthew Dailey, Corey Russell, Lawson Wagner, and Evan Perkins have an overall record of 84 wins and 45 losses.
During those four years, Elizabethton has won the regular-season conference championship two times and won the Three Rivers Conference tournament in back-to-back seasons.
They have also been a part of two sub-state appearances and with their win over Knox Gibbs last season became part of only three Cyclone teams to advance to the state tournament and won the first state tournament game since the 1950s.
The group also tied a school record with 28 wins in 2018 setting records in 12 offensive and defensive categories.
In the current season, the four seniors have led the Cyclones to an undefeated conference record of 12-0 and finished the 2019 regular season with a record of 21-7 heading into tournament play.
