Elizabethton was hoping to close out the 2019 regular season with a win for their four senior players who were recognized before the game started but was unable to make an early 5-3 lead hold up.

The visiting Daniel Boone Trailblazers took control with a six-run fifth inning to take a 9-5 lead that the Blazers were not going to relinquish to take a 12-6 victory over the Cyclones.

Boone racked up 15 base hits in the contest to only six for Elizabethton.

Evan Perkins, Matthew Dailey, Lawson Wagner, Jaden Anderson, Jacob Mullins, and Nico Ashley accounted for the Cyclone hits in the game.

Dailey started on the hill for the Cyclones and was roughed up by the Boone bats as the Blazers rapped out ten hits against the senior hurler scoring eight runs.

The senior walked three and struck out three in his four innings of work.

Ashton Wilson took over and finished the game for Elizabethton allowing four runs on five hits. Wilson recorded two strikeouts and walked one Boone batter.

Win, lose, or draw, Cyclone head coach Ryan Presnell has said that he welcomed the non-conference games as it would only make his ball club better heading into the district tournament this coming weekend.

Elizabethton will play its first game on Saturday in the Three Rivers Conference tournament at 2:30 pm at Joe O’Brien Field against the winner of the Unicoi Co. and Johnson Co. game to be played Friday also at Joe O’Brien Field.

The Cyclones finished the regular season with a 21-7 overall record and 12-0 conference slate.
