Carter County Schools will announce a new development in its curriculum today: an online school.

Secondary Supervisor Danny McClain said the program is both a new school and a supplementary program for current county schools.

“Lots of students here are home-schooled,” McClain said. “We would like to offer this to them as well.”

He said much of the details of Odysseyware’s program are still in the works, but he said the classes the program provides have certified teachers, and he said the state approved all of the courses it provides.

The program will kick off Monday at 6 p.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, where parents will be able to ask more detailed questions about the program and how it will apply to current and future Carter County students.
