Elizabethton takes down Greeneville, 13-1

The Elizabethton Twins traveled to Greeneville looking to keep a hold on their lead in the Appalachian League Western Division.

Behind Ben Gross (3-1) who threw six strong innings from the hill, Elizabethton overran the Reds by a 13-1 score.

Utilizing a 14-hit attack, Elizabethton left no doubt in the contest as Ruben Santana, Willie Joe Garry Jr., and Seth Gray collected three hits apiece to lead the way offensively.

Anthony Prato, Parker Phillips, Matt Wallner, Max Smith, and Janigson Villalobos added one hit each as every E-Twin but two who stepped to the plate connected for a base hit.

Gross allowed five hits, one run and struck out three during his work. Denny Bentley and Max Smith closed out the game with Bentley working two innings and Smith one.

The two teams hooked back up Thursday night for game two of their series.
