Flooding waters force several road closures in county

According to an update from the Carter County Mayor’s office received Thursday afternoon the following roads were closed because of flooding: Riverview Road in the Valley Forge Community near the underpass of Highway 19E, Creekbank Road in the Stoney Creek Community, Alf Taylor Road in the Milligan Community, Gap Creek Road is impassable in some places, and Highway 91 in the 700 block was closed and traffic was rerouted and advised the detour route is a narrow roadway. This is not an all-inclusive list but includes the areas of most concern at that time. Dispatchers said this list of roads could change at any time dependent upon changing conditions.
Carter County dispatchers advised residents to avoid traveling in the affected areas if possible unless it is a true emergency and some roads not included here could have areas that are covered in water or impassable.
