Fire destroys mobile home

On Thursday, around 10:30 a.m., the Central Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Vanover Road concerning a report of a mobile home fire. Upon arrival, the mobile home was fully engulfed. With the aid of the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was quickly under control and extinguished. Watauga Volunteer Fire Department also arrived on the scene for assistance. There were two residents at home when the fire started but managed to escape. Both needed to be checked out for smoke inhalation. The home is a complete loss.
