Hampton wreck sends two to the hospital

Two people were transported to a local hospital following a two-car accident Thursday around 10 a.m. in Hampton.
Carter County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident involving a Jeep and a Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of Highway 19E and Gap Creek Road. Drivers of both vehicles were taken by the Carter County Rescue Squad to a local hospital.
The Hampton/Valley Forge Fire Department also assisted on the call and worked to clear the debris off the highway. Northbound traffic was stopped briefly to allow for cleanup and for the vehicles to be removed.
No other information was available on the accident or status of the injured motorists at press time.
