East Side Freewill Baptist Church meal donations responds to COVID-19

STAFF REPORT
In response to COVID-19, any new person wanting to receive food from East Side Freewill Baptist Church each month is being asked to call and set up an appointment.
The church gives out food on the second Tuesday of every month between 10 a.m. and noon.
When people want to receive this food, they fill out a form and bring proof of residency in Carter County, a piece of mail rather than a driver’s license. No proof of income is required.
Due to the virus and people not being allowed inside the building as they have in the past, new persons are asked to call ahead on Monday to arrange an appointment. Forms can be filled out over the phone and they can then bring in their proof of residency. Due to food being given out in cars, there would not be enough time to do so on Tuesday. New people will be given food later in the week after the necessary forms and proof have been provided instead of this upcoming Tuesday.
While the church receives donations from Second Harvest Food Bank, and also receives items from Food City and Walmart in Jonesborough, donations are welcome. Those wishing to donate can send canned food items, or checks (preferably) and cash to the church at 704 Siam Road.
For more information, you can call 423-543-3454.
