In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic in our region, Carter County Mayor Barnett issued Executive Order No. 4 today extending his declaration of a Local State of Emergency along with a Safer At Home Directive for an additional seven days.
“With the current situation I believe it is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Carter County to extend the emergency declaration and Safer at Home Directive,” Barnett said.
State law grants County Mayor’s the authority to declare a Local State of Emergency for a period of seven days with the option to extend it in seven-day increments.
The Local State of Emergency was set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on April 21. With the extension issued today, the order will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 28, 2020.
