ELIZABETHTON – The City of Elizabethton announced Monday that a portion of West G Street at the Tweetsie Trail crossing will be closed immediately and remain closed during weekdays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm through May 22nd.
Crews with Summers-Taylor Construction company are making improvements to the very busy crossing to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists using the trail.
A grant was awarded to the City through TDOT’s multi-modal program to make the safety improvements to this intersection as well as three other intersections at Williams Avenue, Hudson Drive, and Bemberg Road.
The City asks commuters to use alternative routes to West G Street for the next two weeks and use caution at the other intersections with construction crews are present.
The project is expected to be completed at all four intersections by the end of May.
