Releasing a new Longhorn… Johnson County schools redesign logo

MOUNTAIN CITY— The Johnson County School System recently received a cease and desist order from the University of Texas concerning the use of the previous Johnson County Longhorn logo.

Shortly after, Johnson County Schools began looking for a new longhorn design.
Tameula Trivett, a Johnson County Schools art teacher created the new design. This design was presented at the school board meeting in May of 2020.
Afterward, the new design was submitted to the University of Texas for approval. Johnson County School Officials received approval from the University of Texas on Tuesday, May 26th.

Johnson County Schools and the University of Texas have reached an agreement on how the new logo will be phased in with some of the larger costing promotional items.

• Change the logo on website and on letterhead within by December 31, 2021
• Change the logo on murals, signs, uniforms by December 31, 2024
• Change the logo on the gym floor, football scoreboard, etc. by December 31, 2029

Johnson County Schools have also begun the process of receiving a Tennessee trademark, which will protect the school system from similar circumstances in the future.
