Public library closes due to potential employee contact with COVID-19

The Elizabethton – Carter County Public Library is closing immediately and until at least
Tuesday, August 4 after learning that employees were considered close contacts with someone
who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The library has been working with state public health officials to ensure all proper health
measures are taken.
While the library is closed, due dates will be extended and fines will not be charged.
Any scheduled events that were scheduled will be rescheduled to a date in the future.
“Our concern is for the safety of our employees as well as our patrons and the surrounding
community,” the press release read.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we believe it is important to shut
down at this time.”
