The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. at the Carter County Drug Prevention (CCDP) Building, 546 Elk Ave., Elizabethton.
• Saturday, Aug. 22
Five Star Enhanced Gun Permit School will offer a training class in Mountain City beginning at 8:30 a.m. The class is held at 114 Donnelly St. The classroom is located in the fire hall and is taught by Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer. This is the enhanced gun permit training program. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo and eye and ear protection, if you have it. We do offer loaner guns to use for the program. You may attend this class regardless of what county you live in. Also, you can go to dl.safety.tn.gov and fill out your application. Bring that paperwork to class with you. Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 12:15 p.m. at the Cross Roads Building, 546 Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. “New Way of Life,” a 12 step based, Open Recovery Meeting, will be held at noon at The Red Legacy, 210 S. Hills Drive, Elizabethton.

The Watauga Post No. 49 American Legion will meet at the Post Home at 111 S. Watauga Ave., Elizabethton. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the business meeting to follow. All Legionnaire members are urged to attend. Any veteran interested in becoming a member of the post is invited to attend.
