The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with The Johnson City Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints as we conducted a Friends of the Parks Service Day at Riverside Park.
Riverside Park, which is located along the Watauga River, is a facility that is known for its natural beauty. This particular project involved the planting of knockout roses, the mulching of flower beds and volunteers picking up trash and other debris along the banks of the Watauga.
“We had a wonderful day with the members of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints,” said Mike Mains, Parks and Recreation Director. “It is extremely rewarding to be able to work closely with individuals that truly love this community and want to make a difference. Their hard work will be enjoyed by all that visit this park and for that, we are very appreciative of the mission they provided.” The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department would also like to thank the City of Elizabethton’s Water Resource Department for assisting us with this project.
This is just one of many Friends of the Parks Service Days the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department host throughout the year.
