A rapid response from the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department and the Elizabethton Fire Department helped to contain a brush fire along the Milligan Highway near Happy Valley on Wednesday.

According to reports, the fire was contained around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday as firefighters were remaining onsite to extinguish any hot spots. The fire had spread along a 100-yard trail near the Tweetsie Trail.

No structures were threatened by the fire.
