The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones went on the road Thursday when they traveled to Morristown West to square off with the Lady Trojans in basketball play.
Behind 21 points from Lady Cyclone guard Lina Lyon, Elizabethton picked up a 63-50 non-conference win.
Elizabethton raced out to a 12-point lead, 38-26 after the first half of play.
Lyons ripped the nets for 12 of her 21 points in the opening 16 minutes of action. Post player Marlee Mathena added 10 points to help the Lady Cyclones build the lead.
Renna Lane hit two three’s in contributing eight points to her team’s lead. Olivia Holly and Reiley Whitson connected on one trey apiece and Maddie Fowler also added a basket.
Nina Lovelace almost single-handedly carried her team as she tallied 17 of the Lady Trojans 26 in the half.
Elizabethton outscored West 25-24 in the final 16 minutes of action.
Besides Lyon’s output, Mathena and Lane finished with 14 points apiece.
