Lady Cyclones blow past Johnson Co.

After spending a week in Tampa, Florida, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones returned from the Sunshine State after a 2-1 run and kept the heat going on the court by taking down non-conference foe Johnson County in Mountain City.
Elizabethton established a 24-12 halftime lead and ran off in the second half to record a 58-23 victory to kick off the new year.
Renna Lane scored all 11 of her points in the first half to help the Lady Cyclones build their lead. Lina Lyon and Maddie Fowler chipped in with four and three points respectively for Coach Lucas Andrews team.
Brookanna Hutchins and Desirae Robinson scored four points apiece in the opening half to pace the Lady Longhorns.
Elizabethton came out of the locker room and found their shooting stroke as they outscored Johnson Co. by a 20-7 margin.
Lyon came out with the hot hand in the period by scoring 13 of the Lady Cyclones 20 points in the quarter. Marlee Mathena collected the remaining seven points of the period for Elizabethton.
Hutchins added four more to her scoring column in the period while teammate Sierra Green added a deep trey.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cyclones outran the Lady ‘Horns 14-4 to secure the win.
Lyon’s 21 points led all scorers in the contest. Lane and Mathena chipped in with 11 points each in the victory as well.
Johnson County was led by Hutchins eight points in the loss.
