FROM STAFF REPORTS
The latest scorecard from the 21-county area serviced by Ballad Health continues to show a large number of hospitalizations with the number now at an all-time high of 454 patients.
This news came after Chief Infection Officer Jamie Swift stated on Monday that the health system believes “that we have reached the peak for the Omicron variant.”
Out of the 454 patients, 92 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit while 66 are on ventilators according to the report.
There are also five pediatric patients currently being treated.
Still concerning is the positivity rate over the last seven days that shows a rate of 43% which is 38% above the rate that the hospital has as a targeted figure of 5%.
The death rate continues to remain high as well, as in the last seven days there have been 68 deaths related to the virus bringing the total to 2,006 for the 21 counties since reporting began on March 1, 2021.
Also, there have been 148,593 total cases of diagnosed COVID-19 since the same reporting period according to the health systems scorecard.
The report did not include figures showing the percentage of vaccinated to the unvaccinated who are in the hospital at this time.
