Still seething from their first matchup where a shot before the buzzer was wiped off by the officials in what should have been a win for the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones on the road at Science Hill, there wasn’t going to be an opportunity for the same thing to happen the second time around.
The Lady Cyclones left no doubt on Saturday when they soundly defeated the visiting Lady ‘Toppers by a resounding score of 59-44.
Elizabethton followed the same script of their last two games by bursting out of the gates quickly to establish a 33-12 lead after the first 16 minutes of action.
Renna Lane set the nets aflame from beyond the arc recording 12 points in the opening half to help lead her Cyclone team out front. She had plenty of help as Lina Lyon was playing string music to the tune of nine points in the half.
Marlee Mathena dropped in four while three points each were recorded by Olivia Holly and Reiley Whitson. Katie Lee added two points.
Kaylee Oler’s four points would lead Science Hill in the first half.
Lyon and Lee took over in the second half to make sure that the Lady ‘Toppers couldn’t recover from their early start as Lyon scored 11 of her game-high 20 points in the second half.
Lee came alive to score 10 of her 12 points in the second half including eight points in the final period.
Lane added her fourth three of the contest in the second half to finish with 15 points as well for the Lady Cyclones.
Nae Marion led the Lady Hilltopper with a team-high 12 points for the contest.
