Carter County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Saturday night.

Deputies were called to a residence at 120 Old Highway 19E around 8:30 p.m. Saturday where they found 48-year-old Franklin Lee Hamby, who had sustained a gunshot wound.

EMS came to the scene and pronounced Hamby dead at the scene.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s department, witnesses said a domestic incident had led to the shooting and a person of interest has been indentified. Officials do not believe there is any danger to the public.
